1x1 polls
The mayor and Congress leader Jyoti Khandelwal has confirmed that all pending issues of development and routine work will be taken up for the board meeting. Earlier, the BJP enjoying the majority, have scuttled all other agenda except the constitution of committees. The mayor said, "This time, we have not included the agenda for committees. Now, it will be interesting to see whether they co-operate with us for the sake of the city or not."
While the BJP led by deputy mayor Manish Pareek welcomed the state government's intervention, it has asked the JMC to constitute the committees at the earliest as per the High Court order. "As per the law and the convention, all the issues are first discussed at the level of 15 committees before it is placed on the floor of the House."
Elaborating, he said when all the committees will be in place before July 13 , then the urgency of attaching another 24 agenda with the proposed meeting is untenable.
However, the BJP members refuse to say whether they would allow a smooth session.
Meanwhile, the JMC at its notice to the members have included 24 items that include seeking approval of the board for monetary transactions of a few crore of rupees.
Reacting on the issue, a senior BJP councillor said, "We do not want to give an impression that we are opposing the Congress. But if irrelevant issues are brought up during the meeting, we will certainly to oppose."
